On August 31, 2011, Riggan Law Firm, LLC, a St. Louis employment law firm, working in connection with Weinhaus & Potashnick, filed a wrongful termination lawsuit on behalf of its client, Albert Dees, against The Hayman Company, a Michigan-based property managent company that manages the University Heights apartment building in St. Louis.
In the lawsuit, Mr. Dees, a maintenance worker formerly employed by Hayman, alleges that he was fired in violation of public policy because he refused to perform work on an HVAC system because he was not licensed to perform. According to Dees, Hayman instructed him to perform HVAC repairs, Dees refused because he did not possess the requisite license, and then Dees was fired as a result.
